We are focussed on the use of research, building learning organisations and creating a passion for mathematics in teachers and children.
One of our core values at the Solent Maths Hub is collaboration. All Work Groups involve schools and teachers working together from across the region. We recognise the importance of teachers meeting to discuss core aspects of effective mathematical pedagogy.
Research is at the heart of all our Maths Hub programmes. The Teaching for Mastery approach builds on research developed across the last 5 decades that provides an insight into the effective teaching of mathematics. The action research model is used with our Work Groups through the use of lesson study, intersessional tasks and a cycle of implementation.
The Maths Hub model is based on a model of school to school support facilitated by an experienced practitioner. This model ensures teachers and leaders are empowered to play an active role in shaping the maths teaching and learning in their schools.
As a Maths Hub, we aim to ensure that we provide innovative Work Groups to meet our local need both through the national network of Maths Hubs and the local network of stakeholders.
