There will be the opportunities to meet with those that have been involved in Mastery so far, and those that are taking the first steps on their journey. This is a great chance to build a wider network of people that can continue to work together to develop teaching for mastery across the Solent.

Bar modelling is an essential maths mastery strategy. A Singapore-style on maths model, bar modelling allows pupils to draw and visualize mathematical concepts to solve problems. Time will be spent looking at how bar modelling can be used and you will receive a teaching resource to take away to use in your classroom.
This event is free to attend to all secondary maths teachers. A buffet lunch will be provided upon arrival and you will be provided with resources to take away with you.
This event will take place at two venues:

Subject Specialism Training 2018
Core Maths: This FULLY FUNDED Teacher Subject Specialism programme is designed for non-specialist teachers who are teaching the new Core Maths programme. Core Maths is a new qualification designed for students who have achieved a grade 4 (or C) or above at GCSE. It helps to develop students’ mathematical skills and thinking and supports courses such a A-level Psychology, Sciences and Geography, as well as technical and vocational qualifications.

This Work Group is designed to enhance and deepen maths subject knowledge and pedagogy for teaching assistants. Increased confidence in their own subject knowledge, and enhanced awareness of how children gain number sense and learn mathematics will allow TAs to better support children in the classroom and during small group or individual intervention.

Collaborative Network Meetings for Primary Maths Leads
In response to discussions with head teachers, we are organising a series of collaborative network meeting for Primary Maths Leads.
These sessions will be organised by Jess Paul, SLE Maths at Northern Parade Junior School but will focus on teachers working together, sharing resources, analysing data and how to respond to the new requirements of curriculum/assessment.
The Solent Maths Hub/Portsmouth Teaching School Alliance will provide guest speakers as required by participants.
